Allergan Aesthetics Partners with The Black Beauty Club

Allergan Aesthetics and The Black Beauty Club, a social enterprise focused on community building and driving impactful thought leadership within the Black Beauty space, recently hosted a panel discussion in Atlanta centered around Diversity in Aesthetics.

The panel featured Dr. Corey Hartman, local influencer Tiarra Monet, The Black Beauty Club co-founders Tomi Talabi and Asmeret Berhe, and Graciela Gonzalez, Market Research at Allergan Aesthetics. The casual, yet informative conversation touched on the Black diaspora consumer mindset and created a welcoming environment for aesthetic professionals and consumers to speak openly about aesthetics for this population. The discussion was a masterful balance between the presentation of market research, a focus on the importance of diversifying clinical trials as well and the demystification of aesthetics procedures.

Over 130 consumers, healthcare providers, media, and influencers registered, and the event garnered more than 85 organic social posts reaching over 800,000 potential consumers.

Inspiring Career Paths at Southern University A&M College School of Nursing

Southern University and A&M College School of Nursing hosted an event aimed to educate the nursing students on the role of Nurse Injectors and how that can translate into a career with Allergan Aesthetics.

Ginille Brown, NP, was the featured speaker who talked about her journey to and experience being a Nurse Practitioner in Aesthetics Medicine to over 75 students. This phenomenal program engaged the students about opportunities in the Medical Aesthetics industry. The success of this program has the students and Allergan Aesthetics excited about the next event planned.

In My Eyes – Florida A&M University

In 2021, Allergan Aesthetics launched a pilot program challenging university students to examine how beauty is perceived within the Black community at Florida A&M University—a public, historically Black university located in Tallahassee, Florida.

Students were asked to explore issues around Black attractiveness, with the hope to gain an understanding of how American society and culture perceive Black attractiveness and determine how the organization could promote similarities by using their brand’s voice to bridge gaps.

Teams of students were tasked with creating a 30-minute interactive presentation sharing their thoughts and ideas. The students' ideas and perceptions were then brought to department leads who were blown away by the ideas.

The insights from the program were eye opening and they are exploring doing this with other universities on other topics in the future.

BOTOX® Cosmetic and IFundWomen

BOTOX® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) partnered with IFundWomen (IFW) to help close the “Confidence Gap” for women entrepreneurs. While women make up approximately 42 percent of all business owners in the U.S.,1 on average, they start with about 50 percent less working capital2 and receive approximately two percent of all venture capital funding,3 with women of color founders receiving less than one percent of funding.4

Over 6,500 businesses from across the country applied for the inaugural year of the program, which is a record for IFundWomen partnerships. 20 women entrepreneurs each received a $25,000 business grant, in addition to year-long coaching and mentorship. More than 70% of the recipients are BIPOC-founded businesses. In September, each entrepreneur launched a public crowdfunding campaign that BOTOX® Cosmetic contributed an additional $10,000 to help take their business to the next level.
